We decided to start looking for a campervan in September with it still being cooler/just coming out of winter as you can get them quite a bit cheaper this time of year.
We looked on Gumtree most days, visited car fairs and decided what the criteria was for the campervan we wanted.
Due to wanting to sell Norris (our car) ASAP and my mum and dad coming to stay with us in November/December, I wanted a campervan with 4 seats to accommodate them. We were worried that the seats would compromise the space in the back, but after seeing a few campervans that were either a bit too worn out or not suitable enough, I found Tommy on Gumtree!
We arranged to see him a few days later and straight away we realised he was perfect for us! He was the youngest one we’d seen, had 4 seats, was well looked after and a good price! He cost $3600 and we are adding quite a few new bits to it, including a brand new stereo so we are hopefully going to be able to sell it for a profit considering that it will be summer when we sell too.
In terms of insuring an old campervan, you’d do well to find a better option than the BBH offering. It’s the most straight-forward and effortless insurance you’ll ever purchase – no endless list of pages asking what you had for breakfast! All they ask is your age and how long you want the policy to last – simples.
